For 55 years the Italian Atlantic Committee has promoted research, training and information activities on foreign affairs, security, international economy and other topics relevant to the Atlantic Alliance, with a particular focus on Italy's role in NATO. To promote its mission, the Italian Atlantic Committee participates in a wide range of activities, both at a national and international level.
The Italian Atlantic Committee represents Italy within the Atlantic Treaty Association (ATA). This international body involves all NATO countries and has acquired greater relevance and new commitments by the association of the PfP and Mediterranean Dialogue countries.
Every year the Italian Atlantic Committee conducts international programs of cooperation in the fields of research and education.
The Italian Atlantic Committee promotes Education and Cultural Courses on Atlantic and security issues aimed at civilian and military personel, as well as conferences and debates in schools and academic institutes.
The Italian Atlantic Committee conducts studies and research in the following fields: NATO and International Organizations, Foreign Affairs and Transatlantic Relations, Security and Defense, International Economy. Specialized researchers and working groups develop projects and initiatives also with the collaboration of international partners.
The Forum yearly brings together NATO and Government authorities, political, diplomatic, military, academic and media representatives, young political leaders and researchers, coming from NATO, Partnership for Peace and Mediterranean Dialogue countries, that debate and elaborate proposals on the future of the Alliance.
The Italian Atlantic Committee is active on the entire national territory by coordinating and promoting the activities of a network of local and affiliated Atlantic Clubs. The Atlantic Clubs are characterized by an active youth component and carry out an important work aimed at creating awareness amongst the young generation on themes of foreign affairs, security and international economy related to NATO.
The Italian Atlantic Committee promotes the Youth Atlantic Treaty Association (YATA), the dimension of the ATA dedicated to young leaders, assuring the participation of Italian delegates in its national, regional and international activities.
The Youth Network for Cooperation in the Mediterranean (YNCM) was launched by the Italian Atlantic Committee in order to provide university students, researchers and young professionals from Europe and the Southern Mediterranean countries with a network aimed at promoting security and cooperation in the Mediterranean region.
