Lt. Gen. Giovanni Marizza is Professor of Geopolitics and Crisis Management at the University of Rome “La Sapienza”. Expert on strategic issues and international relations, he took part in several crisis management operations and peacekeeping missions in Africa, the Balkans and the Middle East, where he has been Deputy Commander of the Multi-National Corps in Iraq (160.000 soldiers from 27 countries). Former Chairman of a NATO planning board, he has been Director of the Institute for Higher Defense Studies (IASD). Journalist and writer, he is author of numerous books and essays on geopolitics and military history. He received several prestigious awards, such as the French Legion of Honor, tha American Legion of Merit, the Bonifacio VIII International Prize and Pope Jean Paul II International Prize.
